I was born on St. Patrick's Day, and something about being born on that day really shapes a person. At least it did in my case. That, and growing up in a family with seven kids - 6 of which are boys.

I was always doing something with my time as a kid, and things haven't changed much. Whether it was music, sports, or some other project, I have, for as long as I can remember, been active and have always wanted to be learning something new. My high school government teacher told me that was who I was and no matter how hard I tried, I could not change that. He was right.

I got into music at a young age, and started music lessons (piano) in 1st grade. I moved to the flute in 6th grade and continue to this day. Music has played a big part of my life, from being in band, to just enjoying the melodies of others.

I have a serious case of wanderlust. I have to travel. I mean there is a deep necessity in my life to experience other cultures. If I haven't traveled in awhile, I start getting stir crazy. Experiencing other cultures reminds me that America is not the only place in the world that contributes to the wholeness of the Earth's culture, and in fact is only a tiny part of it.

During the week I work at Halliburton....and I really like it. The work is stimulating (no pun intended) and the people are great. I learn something new every day, which to me is an important part of job fulfillment.

December, 2010, found me and Charlie celebrating our 14 year wedding anniversary. Pretty cool, actually. Even cooler was the birth of my daughter in 2009 and my son earlier in 2010. The four of us plus our four fur-kids make up an exciting Houston Gell household.

Traveling; music; cooking; my family, friends, and animals; running; gardening; the outdoors; environmental issues; and my job.
